X Server – Setting up PuTTY with Xming at Windows

To access linux/unix server from Windows machine and install Oracle Database, nothing better than X Forwarding, right?

First of all, download PuTTY from www.putty.org and then download Xming from http://sourceforge.net/projects/xming/

The PuTTY is a ready to run executable and doesn’t need to be installed, so install Xming and start it (you can see how at: ).

Now, open PuTTY and set it up according to the image below:

1.)    Type the IP address of the remote machine
2.)    Type a name to save your configurations
3.)    Go to Connection -> SSH -> X11 on category menu
4.)    Select Enable X11 forwarding
5.)    Go back to Session on category menu and click on Save
